Niezach

Klasyczne dwuminutowe spotkania.

Za pomoc w organizacji wywiadów dziękujemy organizatorom festiwali: Unsound, Off i Docs Against Gravity.

Titansliber and Some Yellow

I poszukiwania rozwiązań.

Titansliber is the color of our car.
Vertical photos work well in books, in exhibitions and on Instagram. They loose power as blogspot posts.
You have to pair them or arrange little layouts.
Lately I've been shooting vertical a lot. And looking for solutions.

Ludzie Wschodu

W nowym numerze "Polityki" mój tekst o fenomenie Goshy Rubchinskiy’ego i ogólniej modzie na wschodnioeuropejski smutek.
Link tutaj.

Fragment:

Strange Days

It's been a strange day.
The times are strange in general, paradigms are shifting.
Strange times breed creativity.

It was Robert Frank's 92nd birthday today.
Wishing him all the best.
Let's hope that the negative energy that is defining our social life at the moment will bring us art as powerful and touching as Frank's "The Americans".

Instead of digging too deep into today's news I recommend reading this amazing reoprtage about Robert Frank from The New York Times Magazine. With great photos by Katy Grannan.

Leicas and Coffee

1959 collaboration between two legendary Polish photographers: Tadeusz Rolke and Eustachy Kossakowski.
Leiacs, scooters, girls, cofee and the idea of being a character in your own photographic narration.
Artefact filled cafe table photographed from above. 57 years before Instagram.

Magazyn "Stolica" z 1959 roku. Wspólny materiał Taduesza Rolke i Eustachego Kossakowskiego.
Leiki (jak to odmieniać?), skutery, dziewczyny, kawa i idea bycia postacią we własnej fotograficznej narracji.
Sfotografowany z góry, zapełniony artefaktami kawiarniany stół. 57 lat przed Instagramem.

From The Eastern Bloc

14 spreads of my personal work in the newest issue of Hunter Fashion Magazine.
All on the wave of the 90's Eastern European nostalgia.
It's a funny experience seeing how these images from the not-so-obviously-beautiful land of ours suddenly become cool and in demand.
Super happy.

My People

And This Is Why

Swoją drogą lubię instagram, lubię "przeźroczystą" telefonową jakość/brak jakości i bezpośredniość.
I to właśnie dlatego.

I still like blogging, most of all looking back into the archive. The fact is that my professional and family life and instagram don't make blogging easy.
I don't upload things on the go, I simply don't have time to do it and then I don't upload them afterwards either - I assume everyone has already seen everything on instagram.
I enjoy instagram, I enjoy the "transparent" quality/non-quality of the smartphone photography. I enjoy how direct it seems. I used to get this sort "directness" from blogging, but now it seems like blogging should be something more serious and under control, almost like a project.
My professional and private lifes are really detached at the moment, it's hard to find balance between the two on the blog.
And this is why.

American Housing

So we've just finished watching "Stranger Things".
We grew up in the 80s, we speak this visual language, we loved it.

About four years ago I had this period when I was rewatching all the 80's teenage classics, I wanted to see them again as an adult.
One of the things I loved about the films was the vision of American suburban or small town life they depicted, wishful social documentary happening in the background.
Houses, cars, posters on the walls, bikes, sweatshirts and all the other cultural artefacts that have shaped my taste and aspirations.
I started taking pictures of this world, I've never showed them and now I feel is the time to share.

PS. I've never seen "Stand By Me", I have to.
